I have seen this happen to several people's logic projects. Can you open any of the audio files from your project in another audio editor? There were twelve files. Eleven disappeared ,the one left says that it is 8 bit. The files are also gone from the project folder. Well crap. I thought that I bought an external hard drive so that I would not have to back it up.
Hiya Slutz! First post to this altruistic forum. Hope it helps. I experienced the same thing a few years ago. I ended up re-recording the session. This seems to be a universal fix when things are behaving in an odd way in OS X. Apparently it is recommended after ANY installation.
I don't know if this will save the bad files, but I have never had the same thing happen again. A tip; Use an internal drive for recording. It's faster. Back up to external. I forgot an important fact!

A region in another audio track went blank and Logic identified it but could not read it. I found it manually and tried to tell Logic to use it but to no avail.
Since it's been over 5 years since the original posts I see regarding this problem, I am surprised it is still happening with Logic and they have not fixed it yet. Anyone know about this? It sounds like a corrupted file which might have to do with hard drive errors more than Logic crapping out.
Back up regularly, folks. Logics seems not to like them. A friend helped me out when I had this problem. He said that Logic forgets to close the file header when it shuts down.
When reopening the file Logic estimates the file with the corrupted header to be 8 bit. All the audio content still is there and not defective. It can be repaired with a tool he wrote for me. I am just going to export the stems as they are and then import into a new session. A 24 bit vocal file was suddenly appearing as an unreadable 8-bit file, after closing the project and reopening a short time later. Fortunately, it was a duplicate I was working with, so I didn't lose the original. I've been browsing some of the threads about this and some are pointing finger at the use of FAT formatted hard drives, but that wasn't the case for me.
However, it might be worth pointing out that I was working on a project that was in my Dropbox folder on my computer.
